[This is also posted in the 'US Cellular' forum, sorry to double post]

I just purchased the LG UX830 last week and am trying to sort out what microSD card will suit my needs.  When I purchased my phone, the dealer told me a) there has been a lot of trouble with the 4gig cards and b) especially with sanDisk,  then proceeded to try and sell me a $45 Kingston 2gig.  I want to use this phone as my mp3 player as well so the biggest card I can stick in it and function the better off I'll be.  So i've been searching around trying to find a) an LG-approved list of cards and b) confirmed tests on sizes and brands.

I figure that if a 4gig is suppose to work with the phone, it has a high capacity drive in it; so if a 4gig SDHC works an 8gig or even 16gig SDHC should just as well work.

I am hoping to get a list of all LG-approved and LG-tested microSD cards(brands and sizes) for the UX830, or at least clearification that anything over a 4gig SDHC won't work because it HAS BEEN TESTED.

Thanks, Gerald

The Vantage/Glimmer/UX-830 supports up to a 4gig micro sd card. Sandisk is a great brand, right on par with kingston. $45 is a hugely inflated price for a 2Gig card. I recently bought a 2 pack of 2 Gig cards from newegg.com for $15 (including shipping). Check newegg or amazon.

I also had a question about micro sd cards.  I've been looking for an inexpensive micro sd card and have found an 8bg micro sdhc card at Digital Media Outlet for $23.  The problem is I don't know if my Dare will recognice the sdhc format.  It would be great if LG would test and post what formats will work with each phone.  I emailed them this question before I joined the forum so I await their response.

The dare will support the 8gig card. The hc part is high capacity, anything higher than 2Gig. The dare supports those.

Same question but for the LG VU TV.  Whats the biggest micro sd card I can put in my phone and will the sdhc cards work?

I think LG should starting putting this info in with the phones.

Thanks for the help

Jason

Up to 4Gig on the Vu.

LG can't just put it in the documentation because through firmware releases and whatnot, sometimes the max card size is expanded. You can always check out phonescoop.com - which is where I'm looking stuff like this up.

Another resource for this type of information is at http://mobilephones.us.lge.com/ There are all kinds of resources there for every phone LG has; User Guides, Data Sheets, Quick Start Guides, etc.

That's a good resource, but for some reason all the spec sheets you have there (that I have seen) fail to include max capacity of the micro SD cards

That's because it can change with a software update. Which I think you've pointed out before in another thread.

Correct. I guess it would require too much double-checking to update them when new firmware revisions are released...
