I recently purchased a usb cable from best buy (rocketfish) to connect my phone to my computer.  I got it home and then read the outside of the box that data transfer software was required to make the cord do anything more than just charge the phone.  So I have been trying to investigate how to get it to work.  I downloaded the drivers from the file library on here and hooked my phone up, but my computer still isn't recognizing my phone.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

my phone is the LG ux260 for us cellular

Did you make sure you set your phone up to transfer data as a Mass USB device? Your computer won't recognize it otherwise.

Yes I did make sure it was set to that, and I just checked again to double check, but still nothing. I hook it in to the phone and computer it makes the noise and starts charging the phone, but when I go to my computer to see if it has opened up as a removable disk there is nothing there. Thanks for answering, any other direction would be great.

Smilesjer,

I had the same problem... Couldn't get it to do anything, until I put a memory card into it, and THAT is what shows up as the available files, when the USB cable is connected. Without the software, the only thing you can access with the USB cable is whatever is on your memory card.

Same problem with rocketfish/cu720 shine ATT. It has a 2g micro sd. Windows XP still does not recognize the memory or the phone.
I tried a Verizon driver without success. What data transfer software is required???

I just bought a UX830 for myself and my son and neither of us can get connected to our computers but I believe it's because the phones software does NOT recognize Vista.  I have no problems with my desktop (PX Pro) but the laptop just doesn't get it.

Anyone else have this problem? I just canNOT find software updates for the phone for Vista. Any help would be appreciated.

The drivers are located here in the File Library.

Am I missing something?  I do not see the UX830 listed.  (I see the 380, but not the 830...)

Or does another phone model work for the 830??

Thanks for the reply!

your not missing anything.... not much support for the 830. LG Phone Manager does not work with the 830 and I have been unable to get ahold of LG PCsync software as of YET.  BitPM allows some functionality as does The Alltell software suite... Find it on HOFO.

It's a nice phone but far from great.  There are too many "little" things that LG could have done but chose not to. Don't blame USCC, they are one company that doesn't cripple their phones unlilke Verizon and Sprint

Thanks for getting back on this.

I don't know what I did differently, but the second time I tried getting my computer and phone to see each other, it worked. (BTW, same thing with my sons computer. Second time it worked!)  It is recognized as a removable drive (which it is actually) so I was able to transfer sounds and pictures through the Windows Explorer.

I have an ENv2 and I'm having the same problem, what software do I need?
Or do I have to have the micro SD in for my PC to see my phone?

I just purchased the LG Wine UX280WR - I have the correct cable, downloaded the driver, but my PC, XP Pro SP3 does not show up in the My Computer. It said the "modem" was installed correctly, but I can't see anything. I read one post about Bluetooth. Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks

On the Wine, the USB cables functions mainly to charge the phone from your computer or, if push comes to shove, you could use it as a Modem to access the internet... But that would be slow and costly to do it that way... On oost phones there is a MicroSD slot which can store pictures, sounds, Videos and allows you to transfer them via the USB cable to your PC. I don't have a Wine handy to look at... Does your phone have a MicroSD slot?

No, it does not. I have been told that a special software is required, but I don't know what, nor where to get it. US Cellular told me they didn't think the LG Wine had the capability to transfer this way. I see other places to buy the cable and one even has a cd with the drivers on it. What do I do now?

US Cellular is correct, the Wine isn't set up to do file transfers.. Plus I think you have to Purchase and download ringtones directly from US Cellular... If you would like the drivers anyway, here is the link.

http://www.lgcommunity.com/file_library.aspx

They are in the "Drivers" Folder
