Ok, as promised, here is a little write up on how to add games to your LG Voyager. I will attempt to make this as simple as possible, but feel free to ask questions related to this topic in this thread and I will try to answer them. Also, please read the entire tutorial before asking questions, as I will try to answer as many of them as possible along the way.
Notes:
I do not work for Verizon, LG, or any of their affiliated companies. I am a hobbyist, and an enthusiast. This means that I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ADVERSE EFFECTS CAUSED BY FOLLOWING THIS TUTORIAL. This is for informational purposes only, if you choose to follow these steps, you alone will be responsible for the outcome. I will however state that this process has worked great for me and others like me.
Secondly, these are NOT games from Get It Now/Media Center. Those games are written in BREW which can not be copied from one device to the other. They are tied to the serial number of the phone on which they were downloaded. Not only is stealing BREW content unethical and illegal, it is impossible at this point. We are talking about SWF (flash) games. You can find tons of these little games all over the internet. Some will work better than others. Ones that work with a mouse are usually great for the outside screen. Ones that use a keyboard will be better suited to the inside screen. Trial and error seems to be the best method for figuring out which is which. For one reason or another, some games will not work at all.
These ideas and concepts are not entirely my original work, though this tutorial and all the screen shots and stuff are. I learned about this process by browsing through cell phone forums, reading a lot of threads, asking questions, and to some large degree, experimenting. Special thanks to themopedwhiz, humpa, and the others.
FAQ:
Q: What kind of games will work for this method?
A: Most small flash games will work, some may be better suited to one screen or the other.
Q: What happens to my original EZ tip calc and world clock?
A: If you back them up, not much.
The files will be overwritten in the phone’s memory and you won’t have access to them any more. Please make a backup. If you overwrite the one intended for the front screen, the original app will still remain for use with the flip open.
Q: Can I break my phone doing this?
A: If you follow this tutorial exactly, you should be safe, but again, any time you start loading files into the phone that weren’t originally there, there can be problems. I’m not sure what would happen if you loaded a huge (several megabyte) file, it probably just wouldn’t work.. but try to stick with small files and you will be fine.
Q: Will this void my warranty?
A: I’m not sure, maybe a Verizon employee could clarify, but I don’t see anything in my customer agreement that says I’m not allowed to do this. At any rate, if you had to take your phone in for service, you could always just restore from the backups.
Q: Will this work on other phones besides the Voyager?
A: These exact steps will only work with the Voyager, but can be modified to fit any phone that supports flashlite natively, and has files in place to overwrite (this may include the dare, choco 3, and env2.. I’m not sure since I don’t own those phones). Older phones, such as the env, vx8300, etc, have options as well. There is a free GIN app you can download called “Shockwave mini arcade” that can open swf files. If someone is interested, I can point you in the right direction. My wife’s env has free tetris. Woot.
What you will need:
A phone
A data cable (the voyager comes with one)
A computer with a usb port, and capable of running Bitpim (there are builds for Windows, Mac, and Linux)
USB Drivers – on the disc that came with your phone, or on Verizon’s website at: vzam.net/vcastmusic
Bitpim – free download
OK! Enough with the intro stuff, let’s get started.
Step 1:
Get your phone connected to Bitpim. This is beyond the scope of this tutorial, and is REALLY easy to do. Install the drivers, launch Bitpim, connect the phone. Done.
Step 2:
Open the filesystem view by clicking on “filesystem” in the left hand pane (underneath t9 editor).. if you don’t have an icon there, click on view, and check the option for “filesystem”.
Browse to the following path: /flash/ui/tools

Here you see the swf files for your EZ Tip calc and your World Clock.
See the two variations of each? sub and main? sub is your front screen and main is your inside screen. For this example, let’s work with ezTipType1sub.swf which is the tip calculator on the outside screen.
MAKE A BACKUP of your file by right clicking it and choosing save. Save it in a safe place.

Step 3:
If you haven’t yet, you’ll need to obtain a game to put on your phone. Let’s start with one that I know works. Miniputt. You can just Google miniputt and the first result is the one you want. Looks like addicting games has a copy. Now, their copy is embedded in a page, so that it’s shaped how they want it.
We need to go ahead and extract the file. So go up to view, and page source (in firefox, it’s something like that for IE, as well). Once you’re viewing the source, you’ll see a bunch of HTML and Java there, if you have no idea what this all means, it’s ok. Hit control F to open find, and find the string, “swf” which should take you to the source file for the game.

Copy and paste that entire path into your address bar, and you’ll see a full screen version appear. Now just file, save page, and save to your computer somewhere.

Step 4:
Go back to Bitpim, to the /flash/ui/tools/ezTipType1sub.swf and go ahead and click overwrite this time.

Browse for your recently downloaded game, and click “open” when you find it. It will take a few seconds and Bitpim will go ahead and overwrite with the correct filename and everything. Make sure you have disabled the option for “block writing anything to the phone” in Bitpim’s settings, or else you may get an error. Don’t disconnect your phone from your computer until you are sure it is done.
Step 5:
Well, let’s see if it worked. I put a shortcut to ez Tip calc right on my home screen. Otherwise, it’s in the settings&tools->tools menu

Notice the name and icon haven’t changed, but when we open the app..

Success! It’s a fun little game, and it didn’t cost you a dime.
Well, that’s it. Enjoy, and be safe.
