Initially it sounds like you have a conflict with another USB Device. I have had this happen to me. As a troubleshooting step, unplug any other device like Ipod or USB mass Torage devices... Just for a test. Install the driver I have given you a link to (Below) and then plug in your Versa. You're right you should see messages in the lower right side of your screen telling you a "New Device" has been detected and the software installed for it. With your Versa plugged in there are three different modes you can use to transfer music. 1: Music Sync. 2: Data Sync 3: USB Mass Storage Mode In the Mass Storage mode you can transfer music and or copy files to and from your MicroSD because it looks like just another USB Storage device where you can see all folders and files. In Music Sync Mode, it should automatically try to launch your default Music software like Windows Media or Rhapsody (Not iTunes) and you can create play lists, transfer music and basically manage you media. In Data Sync mode you can use 3rd party applications like "BitPim" to manage Contacts, Ring Tones, Calender, and wall Paper files... You can find the option to adjust how the phone responds when you plug it in, under SETTINGS & TOOLS> USB AUTO DETECTION> ASK ON PLUG. This will allow you to choose the mode you want when you plug the phone into the USB Port. The USB Mass Storage Mode is under "Tools" http://www.lge.com/us/mobile-phones/Resources/LGUSBModemDriver_WHQL_Eng_Ver_4.8.1.exe From what you're describing, I think it's a conflict with something else. My Versa just plugs in and works... Let me know what happens! |
