I have that happen occasionally. When you realize a word isn't in the "library", delete it completely, the go to abc and type it in from scratch so-to-speak. If you try to edit part of the word it won't store it in the library.

my first lg choclate 8550's "word" worked perfectly but i broke it and just received an Asurion replacment and the "word" program works like crap, it doesnt remeber words you type in. the only time it does is if they are already in the message your typeing. but as soon as you go to a new message it forgets them. its so frustrating!!!

p.s i tryed what the gal above me said and it didnt work

Is there a way to default to "Word" when starting to text? Currently I have not been able to find it, I know my older LG phones made it very easy to default to T9.

I don't have a chocolate handy to walk through but most LG phones I've had are set up basically the same..
Go to Menu
Messaging
Settings
Entry Mode and change to T9Word.

The steps may be slightly different-you may need to go to messages like you are actually going to send one, then you may see Settings or Options on the bottom of the screen and that list should have Entry Mode that you can change to T9 input or word.
Good luck-hope that helps.

Ok, it's been over a year since the defect was reported here. It doesn't take a year to resolve an issue like this.

No it doesn't take a year to resolve an issue like this, but it does take time to get the info to the right people and help them understand that it is a priority and is important to our customers... Like I mentioned in another thread, I'm new to this position but I believe I have already made some head way to get this information in the correct hands.

LG chocolate can automatically "memorizes" new words that are not in the dictionary.just type in the word in "abc" mode, the phone memorizes this word and the next time you try to send an SMS, you can use "Word" to type in." I'm not sure how many new vocabs the phone can memorize. by the way it also allows you to type in names in your contact list.
