I just got a VX5600 phone and when I used the provided cord to go between the computer and the phone the set-up wizard started but then stated it could not find the necessary software. Is there software or a driver available to connect these two? I run Windows XP.

Much Thanks in Advance,
Joe

Yes you will need the driver in order to charge your phone through the USB port... You can find it here on this site at: http://www.lgcommunity.com/file_library.aspx

In the "File Library" locate the "Drivers" folder and download the LGUSBModemDriver_Eng_WHQL_Ver_4.9.4_All.exe file and run the file.

I followed these instructions. The install worked fine, Windows recognizes the LG port and it seems to be working but not sure what program to use to upload my contacts since BitPim does not support the 5600 yet. Any suggestions? Is there a Verizon or LG program to do the same thing?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank-you very much LG Product Pro,

My VX5600 is now charging through the USB connection to my computer, but is there a way to transfer pictures or address book information from the phone to the computer?

Much Thanks,

You might try a utility called "SyncCell" to see if that will support the VX5600, it's a good contact syncing utility... For pictures, You're best bet is to email or Txt them to an email address until BitPim supports the Accolade.

I uploaded pictures from my LG-VX5600 cell phone to my PC using BitPim 1.0.7. I used the USB/power cable that came with the phone. Manually set BitPim's phone type to LG-VX9100. This worked for Wallpaper, Ringtones, Calendar and SMS. It did not work for the Phonebook or Call History. I tried all other LG phones listed and could not get any of them to upload the Phonebook. I also did not get Bluetooth to work in BitPim, but getting Name Cards over bluetooth with the phone and my PC works.

Very Good! Thanks for the update, this is very interesting.

Verizon User Guide for the VX5600;
pg 14 - Phone Overview 13. Accessory/Chargery Port Connects the phone to the battery charger, or other compatible accessories.
pg 17 - 2. NOTE Please make sure that the 'B' side faces up before inserting a charger or data cable into the charger port of your phone.
pg 122 - Accessories Vehicle Power Charger, USB Cable are both described as charging equipment, but no other "compatible accessories" use.
Index - No mention of a "Data Cable" or "USB".
Verizon Getting Started;
pg 7 - 10. Accessory/Charger Port
Verizon Stores in Maryland;
No "compatible accessories", and no information about the use of the USB port except for charging.
Verizon Cell Phone Help at 1-866-406-5154; - No information on "compatible accessories" or applications or drivers.
LG Cell Phone help at 1-800-793-8896; - No software application information, and no "compatible accessories" information.
LG on the Internet; - No software application information, and no "compatible accessories" information, only downloadable modem (?) driver.
Win XP SP3 sees phone as modem with LG driver installed.
BitPim web site http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/bitpim/ - Cell Phone/PC data transfer program that sees phone on PC with LG driver installed, but without LG VX5600 support. Was able to get picture under 'LG-VX9100' phone type, COM port 6, but had to look in File System view in brew/mod/1088 folder.

No idea why LG provides a "modem driver", or why Verizon has no appications for data transfer while suggesting that a data cable might be used in the phone micro USB port.

An LG Community Forum item suggests that the free "V Cast Media Manager" utility could transfer pictures and videos between VX5600 and a PC. Have not tried to find it yet.

Fancy that! I thought V CAST Media Manager was a pay service! I downloaded and installed it and it really works, for free! Here's more details I found out:

With the VX5600, only pictures are supported, not music.
I downloaded it from the link posted above.
I took 15 minutes to download with my 1Mbps Verizon Mobile Broadband EVDO-A service.
It took over an hour to install. Most of this was during install of 7 device drivers.
(Watch for hidden windows awaiting your response: minimize every window, then move the install window to reveal hidden window)
Initial install was version 1.5.0.1555, but this would not detect my VX5600 phone.
Then did update within V CAST Media Manager, from its Help menu.
New version still took 15 minutes to download, but less time to install (it only did 5 device drivers and no hidden windows)
Second install is now version 1.5.0.1585 and it automatically detected my VX5600 phone.
I don't see any COM ports or devices to select, or any other way connect to phone other than "Scan for Devices" from the File menu.

This is a great alternative to having to select LG-VX9100 in BitPim.
However, V CAST only does pictures. If you want Music, Calendar or SMS; BitPim will do.
Hope this helps for others out there!

Phone: LG-VX5600 with VX560V03 Software
PC: HP Mini 311-1037NR NetBook with Windows 7

I like Media Manager, it seems to do a pretty good job Syncing phones for me. It's unfortunate that you can't sync Music with the Accolade, but I guess that's the way Verizon wanted it.

V Cast Media Manager isn't working for me. I had previously installed all the drivers for my VX5600 and it is detected by my computer just fine, but whenever I click "scan for devices" or "connect your device" it says the phone isn't detected. I am using the latest version, 1.5.0.1585. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what was going on but I can now see the Accolade (VX5600) using Vcast Media Manager Ver 1.5.0 ... This time I had the Accolade plugged into the USB port when I launched VCast MM... It recognizes the Accolade and even reports it's Firmware version (VX560V03)... But it will only transfer Pictures and not Music.

Sorry for the Confusion
