I've seen where several people are having trouble with setting ringtones as the default message alert, but has any one had any luck fixing this problem?

There is a patch out for the Tritan the most current version is T84UCV04. To see what version you are using go to Menu - Settings - Phone Settings - Phone Info - Version - Sw Version. Let me know what version you are on then we can go from there to see if we can get this issue resolved.
